Under the title of El Corredor Mediterráneo. 2000 años construyendo Europa [The Mediterranean Corridor. 2000 years building Europe], this exhibition offers a chronological, themed overview of the coastal route from Algeciras to Perpignan and Lyon, a meeting point for an extensive network that spans Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. A corridor with 2,000 years of history of generating movement between the Mediterranean and Europe.
Throughout the history of communications, the history of land transport, from the construction of the Roman roads to the emergence of the railway, the Mediterranean Corridor has endured, maintained the same route and even contributed towards building Europe through various networks and means, platforms and systems of transport.
This exhibition offers a historical perspective that explains the survival of certain routes and corridors and highlights the values and potentialities to be taken into account in any future decisions.
