The Demetrio Ribes Prize

The year 2004 saw the creation of the Demetrio Ribes Prize for Research, which aims to promote research into our past and present history through different scientific disciplines. The prize disseminates research on the history of transport and public works in the Valencian Community, thus supporting researchers and awarding their commitment to Valencian history and heritage.

Information for potential applicants: the call for applications usually appears between May and July each year, with a delivery date of up to mid-November. The rules remain largely the same for each edition and are published on this website.

This competition was added to the events scheduled by the Valencian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport to commemorate 150 years since railway first arrived in Alicante. Of the projects submitted, five finalists were chosen, from which the winner, Alicante-Madrid, la primera línea férrea al mediterráneo: un recorrido paisajístico por la provincia de Alicante by María Mestre Martí, was selected.
