This recent publication by the Cátedra Demetrio Ribes is dedicated to one of the most iconic architectural elements of the Port of Valencia: the Edificio del Reloj, or Clock Building. This text, included in the Transport Museum’s Booklet Collection, is the third part of a series commemorating the Port of Valencia’s buildings, following publications on the modernist sheds and commercial docks.
The piece is divided into two main themes. The first part, written by Inmaculada Aguilar, presents the plans, the craftspeople and the construction process behind this early marine terminal, contextualising it within the time of the creation of the Port of Valencia. The second section, by Laura Bolinches, examines the transformations undergone by the building itself, from its reconstruction after the Civil War to the restorations carried out in the first decade of the twenty-first century.
